Picking who will win the Golden Boot in any football tournament is always a fun market to bet on. England’s Jodie Taylor won the Golden Boot with 5 goals in 2017. The Lionesses will be hoping another one of their stars will produce the goods on home soil this time round.
Women’s Euros Top Goalscorer – Who Will Win the Golden Boot?
Beth Mead at 14/1 with Bet365
Beth Mead is in fine fettle, having recently scored twice against the Netherlands in England’s 5-1 win. These were her 13th and 14th goals for England since the start of 2021-22, breaking Jimmy Greaves’ England record for most goals in a season. Mead takes preference over her England counterpart Ellen White in this market, due to their respective domestic seasons. Mead scored 11 goals for Arsenal in the Women’s Super League, compared to White’s 4 for Manchester City. With Lauren Hemp set to provide Mead with plenty of chances, she looks like good value at 14/1.
One thing in England’s favour is that they have Northern Ireland in the group stages, who are the weakest team in the competition. They shipped 17 goals in the qualifying stages, and will undoubtedly be nervy considering this is their tournament debut. For context, the second-worst defensive record of the qualified teams was Switzerland with 6. Mead also has previous against the Green and White army, scoring a hat-trick in their 4-0 victory in world cup qualifying last October. This type of high-scoring game could be vital in deciding which individual scores the most goals in the tournament. Most teams had excellent defensive records during qualifying, and knockout stages usually provide tense affairs.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto at 15/2 with 10bet
I have already talked in my preview piece about how Katoto is one of the most in-form players in Europe, and she is good value at 10/1 for the golden boot. She scored 8 goals during the qualifying stages for Euro 2022, as well as 25 goals in all competitions last season for PSG. 7 of those were in the Champions League, where her xG was only 4.7! This clinical finishing, combined with her aerial threat, make her deadly. Her composed goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages showcased these qualities. France should top their weak group, allowing for an easier opponent in theory in the quarter-finals, which is all the more reason for Katoto having a great chance of winning the golden boot.

Vivianne Miedema at 9/1 with Unibet
Miedema, the Dutch legend, is prolific for both club and country. Picking an in-form player before a major tournament is always wise, and Miedema certainly fits in that category. She scored 14 goals in the WSL, second only to Sam Kerr. She has scored more goals for the Netherlands than anyone else, finishing second in the golden boot race in Euro 2017. She was instrumental in the Dutch run to the 2019 World Cup Final. Let’s not forget her staggering tally of 10 goals in 4 games at the 2021 Summer Olympics. The only obstacles in her way at those last two tournaments were the mighty USA team. All these examples prove how big a tournament player Miedema is, and the fact that she’s only 25 makes her accomplishments even more staggering. The Netherlands will have a tough game against Sweden in their group, but they are still favourites to top their group, so expect Miedema to have a solid run of games to expand on her goalscoring record.
