On Thursday two casino properties in West Virginia halted retail and land-based sportsbook operations without an explanation.
The Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras casinos, that are both operated by Delaware North, stopped accepting bets at their land-based sportsbooks and on their shared online sportsbook BetLucky.com.
Glen White, a spokesperson for Delaware North provided BettingUS with a statement.
In an email, White said: “We have been informed by Miomni Gaming, our sports wagering platform provider in West Virginia, that they have encountered a contract dispute with a third-party technology supplier.
“This has resulted in the interruption of the Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras sports-betting operations as well as the BetLucky.com mobile app from accepting new sports wagers. We are honoring and redeeming all resulted bets and are working to determine a time frame for restoration. We apologize for this interruption in service.”
BetLucky launched in January and is the only online sports betting platform available in West Virginia. More online sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel and William Hill are expected to launch in the state in the coming months.
There are three other land-based sportsbooks that are still open for business in West Virginia, these include The Mountaineer Casino, Hollywood Casino and the FanDuel Sportsbook at the Greenbrier.
In October 2018, Delaware North and Miomni Gaming partnered to launch online and land-based sports betting to the residents of West Virginia.
