The UFC action continues this weekend and we have a numbered card blessing our screens with UFC 303 live from Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the card is a huge fight between Alex Periera and Jiri Prochazka, a fight which happened earlier this year and resulted in a KO victor for the Brazilian.
Below we’ve offered our three best bets for the action and combined them all into an accumulator.
Brian Ortega to win – Ortega vs Lopes: 11/10
Brian Ortega returns to the Octagan at UFC 303 where he faces the up and coming Diego Lopes. The last time we saw Ortega fight was against Yair Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 237 where Ortega won by submission in the third round. This fight was a rematch from an earlier bout where Ortega lost by TKO due to an injury.
His performance against Yair was impressive and many doubted that Ortega would do well in this fight where he was an underdog. Overall Ortega is a very skilled fighter with excellent wrestling which could cause a problem from Diego Lopes.
Lopes has been on a tear recently with three consecutive wins in the UFC with all of those coming by stoppage in the first round. There’s no denying that Lopes is a solid fighter but I just feel the experience lies with Ortega here and with the calibre of fighter he’s beat in the past, he should have the advantage.
It feels crazy to see him as an underdog here despite the promise that Lopes has shown, 11/10 represents some great value here.
Michael Page to win – Garry vs Page: 13/10
Up next we’re siding with Michael Page to beat Ian Garry. This is a fight that is sure to be very explosive with two very exciting fighters facing off against each other. Age may favour the young Ian Garry but anyone would be a fool to write off Michael Page.
MVP made his debut in the UFC recently after being the face of Bellator for so many years. He faced Kevin Holland and absolutely dismantled him. It was a near perfect performance from the Brit as he cruised his way to a decision victory over the veteran Kevin Holland.
Ian Garry is still yet to lose a fight but he has fought no one as good as MVP. On paper this is a very 50/50 fight. We have a young undefeated fighter in Ian Garry vs a very experienced champion in Page.
This is a fight that should be primarily on the feat and if you are to stand up with Michael Page, you’re going to have a bad time and that’s why I’ll be siding with MVP for the upset here.
Alex Pereira to win – Pereira vs Prochaza: 4/6
And finally we’ll be siding with Alex Pereira to win the main event in his rematch against Jiri Prochazka. In the first fight Jiri was having some success but you need to be perfect when you fight against Alex Pereira and when Alex connects with a punch, you best believe it’s going to be over.
That was exactly the case for Prochazka as he took one left hand and the fight was over. I can see the same happening again and whilst I think Prochazka is one of the most elite fighters around, I think Poatan has his number when it comes to the standup.
Jiri loves to stand and bang so to say and and that’s a dangerous plan going against one of the most established kickboxers the world has ever seen. Jiri’s last fight against Rakic was a crazy one with both fighters landing huge shots, I worry that Jiri is going into this one with a similar plan and it will end up with him getting knocked out.
Adding all these selections together we’re left with an 8.6/1 accumulator with Bet365.
