The NBA and The Stars Group have announced a multi-year partnership which will make The Stars Group an authorized gaming operator of the NBA.
The agreement is the first ever deal between the operator and a professional US sports league.
As part of the partnership, The Stars Group will gain access to official NBA betting data and will work with the league to tackle the issue of responsible gaming.
Another aspect of the partnership is that the NBA’s digital assets which include NBA TV, NBA.com, the NBA App and social media platforms will promote The Stars Group.
The Stars Group will also promote the NBA across its gaming platforms including the popular PokerStars platform.
Scott Kaufman-Ross, Head of Fantasy & Gaming at the NBA, said: “The Stars Group is an accomplished global online gaming leader and we are excited to work with them on their first US sports league partnership.
“This dynamic partnership will be another way to create authentic fan engagement with league logos and official NBA betting data while leveraging Stars’ global expertise to further optimize the fan experience.”
Matt Primeaux, SVP Strategy & Operations, USA at The Stars Group, said: “We are excited to partner with the NBA as we continue to execute on our US strategy. This agreement enables us to use official NBA data and league marks, providing a better experience to our customers, while working with the NBA to protect the integrity of games.”
This news comes after The Stars Group entered into a partnership with Eldorado Resorts for sports betting which covered 11 states last month.
As for the NBA, this partnership is the latest in a long list of partnerships with organizations in the sports betting market.
The NBA is currently partnered with MGM Resorts, Francaise des Jeux (FDJ) the French national lottery operator and sports data supplier Sportradar.
