We’re in week 9 of the Premier League season – take a look at some of our predictions and tips for the best bets on this weekend’s action.

Bournemouth v Leicester

Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-2

Suggested bet: Vardy to score

The only thing missing from Leicester’s much-needed 4-0 win over local rivals Forest was a Jamie Vardy goal. We fancy him to get off the mark away at Bournemouth now that the Foxes’ season has finally begun.

Chelsea v Wolves

Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 2-0

Suggested bet: Arrizabalaga to keep a clean sheet

A 90th minute winner at Palace and a convincing Champions League win over AC Milan makes Potter’s Chelsea overriding favourites here. Bruno Lage was sacked after last week’s defeat to West Ham, and Wolves just can’t find the back of the net. Kepa to keep a clean sheet is our suggested bet.

Man City v Southampton

Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 4-1

Suggested bet: Haaland to score twice

Southampton have found a knack of upsetting City’s rhythm in recent seasons, but there’s no suggestion of an upset here. At this point, why wouldn’t you put a bet on Haaland to score?

Newcastle v Brentford

Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-1

Suggested bet: Over 11 corners

Despite just one win in their last seven league games, Newcastle find themselves 7th in the table and in buoyant mood after their 4-1 win at Fulham last time out. Still, Brentford are hard to beat, and we see these two draw specialists sharing the points here. Newcastle have won the most corners this season, with Brentford 7th according to that stat – over 11 corners in the game is our tip.

Brighton v Tottenham

Saturday, 5.30pm. Our prediction: 2-1

Suggested bet: Both teams to score

A really tough one to call. Brighton look like the real deal despite losing their manager early in the season. Tottenham by contrast seem to have lost some momentum, resoundingly beaten by Arsenal last weekend and firing a blank at Frankfurt in the Champions League. Both teams to score is our pick.

Crystal Palace v Leeds

Sunday, 2pm. Our prediction: 1-1

Suggested bet: Over five cards

Both of these sides enjoy a scrap, and with little to choose between them we see this one getting feisty – over five cards in the game is our recommendation.

West Ham v Fulham

Sunday, 2pm. Our prediction: 2-0

Suggested bet: Scamacca to score

Fulham’s threat hinges solely on Alexander Mitrovic, and with the Serbian ruled out of this one, we see the Hammers picking up another 2-0 victory here. Gianluca Scamacca has taken some time to settle in but he showed his class in scoring his first Premier League goal against Wolves – we back him to make it two in two here.

Arsenal v Liverpool

Sunday, 4.30pm. Our prediction: 2-1

Suggested bet: Jesus to score

If Arsenal’s impressive start to the season continues here, we’ll have no choice but to consider them the biggest threat to City’s crown. Gabriel Jesus – who’s been reborn at the Emirates Stadium – looks like getting on the scoresheet every week, and that’s our tip for this one.

Everton v Man United

Sunday, 7pm. Our prediction: 1-0

Suggested bet: Onana to score first

Out of nowhere, Everton are one of the league’s form teams: unbeaten in six, two wins on the bounce, and the best defensive record in the league. United will be reeling from their humbling at City last weekend, the effects of which will linger for this game; we see them hiding away from a raucous Goodison Park. Amadou Onana to score first.

Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa

Monday, 8pm. Our prediction: 2-1

Suggested bet: Forest to score first

Forest were comfortably beaten last Monday but we haven’t written them off just yet. Villa are under pressure themselves and might be the perfect opponent for Steve Cooper’s side to pick up three huge points. Decent odds on Forest to score first, a Brennan Johnson goal, and a Danny Ings goal would tempt us.
