Premier League Preview and Betting Tips: Week 16
Man City v Brentford
Saturday, 12.30pm. Our prediction: 3-0
Suggested bet: Haaland to score twice
It’s the last round of fixtures before the World Cup begins, which means it’s also Erling Haaland’s last opportunity to find the back of the net for a while. It’s not an opportunity we think he’ll pass on, particularly against a side with such a poor away record this season.

Bournemouth v Everton
Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-1
Suggested bet: Gordon to score and get booked
Four defeats in a row have wiped the gloss from Gary O’Neil’s start as Bournemouth manager; they’re now firmly in the relegation scrap that many anticipated they would be. They put four past the Toffees in midweek but this will be a much tighter game.
Liverpool v Southampton
Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-1
Suggested bet: Both teams to score
New manager syndrome seems to always strike this season – Liverpool have already been on the receiving end of that curse when they faced De Zerbi’s Brighton for the first time. We think Nathan Jones’ Saints side will manage to scrap a point here.
Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace
Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 0-1
Suggested bet: Under 1.5 goals in the match
Three wins in four has taken Palace into the top-half of the table, and they could finish the weekend’s round of fixtures as high as sixth if they win here. Forest are showing signs of life, but we think the Eagles will edge this one.
Tottenham v Leeds
Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-2
Suggested bet: Brenden Aaronson to score first
Spurs seem to need to go two goals down before they start playing at the moment, and against Leeds’ trademark aggression, we see this pattern taking shape again. Jesse Marsch’s side are looking for a third league win in a row for the first time since he took over. Ramero is missing again for Spurs.
West Ham v Leicester
Saturday, 3pm. Our prediction: 1-2
Suggested bet: Maddison to have 3+ shots on target
Gareth Southgate finally heeded the call from just about every football fan in England in selecting Maddison for the World Cup. He’s been performing under the most extreme pressure for the best part of two months now and we don’t see that form relenting.
Newcastle v Chelsea
Saturday, 5.30pm. Our prediction: 3-2
Suggested bet: Over four goals in the match
Can anybody stop Newcastle? Like Arsenal and City, the Magpies have lost just once all season and are scoring for fun. Defeat for Chelsea would sound the alarm bells of a new world order in the Champions League. We see goals in this one.

Wolves v Arsenal
Saturday, 7.45pm. Our prediction: 0-2
Suggested bet: 3-fold acca on a Ramsdale clean sheet, Jesus to score and Neves to get booked.
It’s hard to see anything other than an Arsenal win here. The Gunners have scored almost four times as many goals as Wolves in the league this season. Ruben Neves forms part of our acca tip – no player has been booked more than him this season.
Brighton v Aston Villa
Sunday, 2pm. Our prediction: 3-1
Suggested bet: Jacob Ramsey to score first
Villa were excellent against United last time up, but Unai Emery’s new side will have a tougher task against this shapeshifting Brighton team. The Seagulls themselves were outstanding in dumping Arsenal out of the League Cup on Wednesday.
Fulham v Man United
Sunday, 4.30pm. Our prediction: 2-2
Suggested bet: Over five yellow cards in the match
These two teams are top of the yellow card charts, which is where our tip is for this one. If Mitrovic is fit – he seems to be both fit and not fit this season – then a goal fest could be on the cards at the Cottage.
