Premier League Preview: Three varied price bets for Gameweek 8

The Premier League resumes after the October international break and there are some crucial fixtures in the top flight of English football.

The weekend should start with a bang as London rivals Tottenham and West Ham meet in Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off and Sunday’s highlight sees leaders Liverpool host Chelsea.

Under-pressure Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag faces an awkward home fixture against Brentford at 3pm on Saturday while bottom-of-the-table Wolves are hoping to upset champions Manchester City at Molineux on Sunday.

We have picked out three top tips for Game Week 8

Tip 3 – Tottenham v West Ham: Over 3.5 goals, Dominic Solanke to score at any time and Edson Alvarez to be booked @ 15/2 with bet365

Tip 1 – Brentford or draw double chance v Manchester United @ 11/10 with bet365

Manchester United needed two injury-time goals from Scott McTominay to salvage a 2-1 win over Brentford at Old Trafford last season and the Bees look in good shape for Saturday’s trip to Manchester.

Thomas Frank’s men have put together an extraordinary sequence of early goals, scoring in the first minute against Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham and the second minute of their 5-3 home win over Wolves last time out.

United, in contrast, have failed to find the net in four of their last five league matches. Their only top-flight victories this term came against struggling Southampton and opening-night visitors Fulham, who conceded in the 87th minute to lose 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Europa League draws with FC Twente and Porto have done little to ease the pressure on Ten Hag and free-scoring Brentford should be backed to avoid defeat.

Tip 2 – Draw in Liverpool v Chelsea @ 31/10 with bet365

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has won nine of his first ten matches in charge of the Reds but they face a far more daunting run of fixtures between now and Christmas.

Slot’s men have not been entirely convincing in recent games, winning 2-1 at bottom club Wolves and 1-0 at out-of-form Crystal Palace in their last two league matches.

They offered up plenty of chances in a 2-0 Champions League win over Bologna at Anfield and could be vulnerable at the back while first-choice goalkeeper Alisson is out injured.

Chelsea have made a better start than many expected under Enzo Maresca, winning their first three away league matches by an aggregate score of 10-2.

The trip to Liverpool is clearly a step up in class but the Blues have the attacking talent to trouble their hosts and the draw is a tempting bet in Sunday’s big game.

Tip 3 – Tottenham v West Ham: Over 3.5 goals, Dominic Solanke to score at any time and Edson Alvarez to be booked @ 15/2 with bet365

Tottenham fans spent the international break stewing over their side’s 3-2 defeat at Brighton, where they led 2-0 at the break after a terrific first-half display.

Spurs are favourites to get back to winning ways at home to West Ham but the Hammers claimed a much-needed 4-1 victory over Ipswich last time out, racking up 13 shots on target and hitting the woodwork twice.

The visitors can contribute to a high-scoring game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where over 3.5 goals looks a solid Bet Builder selection.

Complete the same-game acca by backing Spurs striker Dominic Solanke to score at any time and West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez to be booked.

Solanke should get chances against a West Ham defence who wilted against Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson this term and the combative Alvarez has picked up 13 yellow cards in just 31 league starts for the Hammers.
