Premier League Preview – Three tips for Gameweek 6

The weather may be cooling down as we head towards the end of September, but the Premier League season is certainly starting to heat up and there is another full round of fixtures to enjoy over the coming days.

Following the late drama at the Etihad Stadium last weekend that saw Manchester City salvage a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, the Citizens will head into their away clash with Newcastle sitting a point clear at the top of the standings.

At the other end, there are still six teams awaiting their first victories of the campaign and two of those will meet at Goodison Park on Saturday as Everton entertain Crystal Palace.

Tip 1 – Brentford to beat West Ham @ 6/5 with bet365

Brentford may have lost three of their last four Premier League games, but those defeats have come against tough opposition in Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham, while the Bees have won both their home matches in the top-flight this season.

A third-successive league win at the Gtech Community Stadium could be on the cards for Thomas Frank’s side on Saturday, as they will be entertaining a West Ham team struggling to find their feet under Julen Lopetegui.

There was plenty of optimism when former Spain boss Lopetegui arrived at the London Stadium over the summer, but the Hammers have registered just one league win and come into this one off the back of a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea and a 5-1 EFL Cup thrashing at the hands of Liverpool.

That has ramped up the pressure on the visitors heading into this game, but the omens are not good, as they have lost all three of their previous Premier League visits to Brentford.

Tip 2 – Chelsea to beat Brighton and both teams to score @ 2/1 with bet365

Chelsea appear to be settling into life under Enzo Maresca, as they are on a three-game winning streak across all competitions, scoring nine goals during that sequence, while Manchester City are the only team to have beaten them domestically this season.

The Blues, who have put six past Wolves in the league and five on Barrow in the EFL Cup over recent weeks, certainly possess plenty of firepower, although question marks remain over their defence.

Unbeaten Brighton will certainly hope to expose any frailties within the Blues’ backline, but the Seagulls have a poor recent record against Chelsea, losing to them three times last season alone.

That sequence includes 3-2 and 2-1 Premier League successes for the west Londoners during 2023/24 and a similar result, with both teams scoring, could be on the cards at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Tip 3 – Ipswich vs Aston Villa: Over 3.5 goals in the match and Jhon Duran to score last @ 18/1 with bet365

Ipswich are still awaiting their first win since returning to the Premier League, but they have drawn their last three fixtures and have netted in four of their previous five games across all competitions, including away at Manchester City.

The Tractor Boys were also the leading scorers in the Championship last season with 92 goals and they are capable of breaching an Aston Villa defence that is without a clean-sheet in any of their last 10 top-flight games.

However, Villa are free-scoring, netting two or more goals in six of their seven matches across all competitions this season, while in Jhon Duran they have an in-form striker who has notched four in five in the league, with all of those strikes coming as a substitute.

Duran did start and score against Wycombe in the cup during the week, but he is likely to revert back to the bench for this one, increasing the likelihood that he could come on to score the last goal of what could be a high-scoring encounter.
