Premier League Gameweek 19 Preview

Gameweek 19 takes the Premier League to the halfway mark and into 2025 with 10 action-packed matches between Sunday, December 29 and Wednesday, January 1.

There’s a quick turnaround for Leicester, who will attempt to do what eight of Manchester City’s last nine opponents have done and take points from the reigning champions.

Liverpool will attempt to follow up their Boxing Day win over the Foxes with another in a trip to face a West Ham side unbeaten in four Premier League games.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Crystal Palace host basement club Southampton, Everton entertain in-form Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth travel to Fulham and Tottenham will bid to bounce back at home to Wolves.

Monday’s triple bill features Aston Villa against Brighton, Chelsea’s trip to Ipswich and Manchester United’s home date against Newcastle before Brentford host Arsenal in the final fixture of the 10 on New Year’s DAy. .

Wolves to beat Tottenham

This looks like one of the standout match result bets of the gameweek as a Tottenham team that has taken only one point from their last four home Premier League games hosts a resurgent Wolves side.

The Old Gold has regained some lustre since parting company with Gary O’Neil and appointing Al Shabab boss Vitor Pereira.

Wolves recorded a second win in a row when they deservedly defeated the Red Devils at Molineux on Thursday and will travel to North London in good heart.

After keeping only one clean sheet all season under O’Neil, it’s two in two for Wolves under Pereira.

And the form of Matheus Cunha, whose FA misconduct charge for an incident after the final whistle of the recent home defeat by Ipswich is still to be heard, could earn them another three points on Sunday.

Tottenham, on the other hand, lost for the fifth time in eight Premier League games on Thursday and a squad that is already stretched thin will be without suspended defender Djed Spence against Wolves.

Anthony Gordon to score at any time in Manchester United vs Newcastle

Anthony Gordon scored a special goal to give Newcastle the lead at home to Aston Villa on Boxing Day and he could be the Magpies’ main dangerman when they go to Old Trafford on Monday night.

The former Everton star scored in both home and away games against United last season and produced a virtuoso performance at Old Trafford when Eddie Howe’s men dumped the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup last term.

Gordon has the ability to further torment a United side that have leaked 19 goals in 10 games since Ruben Amorim took charge.

Two of those goals have come directly from corners and Gordon, who takes them for Newcastle, may be thinking about catching the Red Devils defence out again.

Ryan Christie over 1.5 shots on target in Fulham v Bournemouth

Ryan Christie has recorded only six shots on target in the Premier League this term — hence the big odds about him testing the Fulham keeper twice on Sunday — but three of those strikes have come in his last four appearances.

And Justin Kluivert’s suspension could mean a more advanced role for the Scotsman in Sunday’s clash between high-flying Fulham and Champions League-chasing Bournemouth.
