Premier League Gameweek 17 Preview

It’s Gameweek 17 in the Premier League with ten action-packed matches taking place on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22.

Sunday’s clash between Tottenham and Liverpool is the standout tie of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, with the Reds looking to extend their lead in the battle to be crowned champions.

Elsewhere, in-form Chelsea head for Everton, while title rivals Arsenal take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Beleaguered Manchester City are at Aston Villa and Manchester United host Bournemouth.

High-flying Nottingham Forest travel to Brentford, IpswichTown  host Newcastle United and West Ham welcome Brighton to the London Stadium.

Struggling Southampton go to Fulham and Leicester City and Wolves face off in a relegation scrap.

Aston Villa to beat Man City @ 9/4 with bet365

It’s just one win in 11 matches for Manchester City, who were embarrassed by rivals Manchester United last weekend and the Citizens look to be heading to Aston Villa at the wrong time.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in awful form, while Villa look to be somewhere near their best.

Unai Emery’s men were beaten by Nottingham Forest last time out, but the Villans had previously seen off Brentford, Southampton and RB Leipzig and their energy and running power is exactly what City have been unable to deal with this season.

Nicolas Jackson to score at any time @ 13/8

Nicolas Jackson found the net in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Brentford last weekend and the Blues forward has quietly developed into a regular goalscorer.

The Senegal international has hit nine Premier League strikes this season, he has registered 41 shots, with 22 of those finding the target, and the 23-year-old is leading the line for a team in red-hot form.

Chelsea should dominate Everton on Sunday and Jackson looks a solid anytime scorer option.

Jurrien Timber over 1.5 shots on target in Crystal Palace v Arsenal @ 20/1

Jurrien Timber wouldn’t be Arsenal’s most likely goal threat and that’s reflected in offers of 20/1 about the Dutchman hitting two or more shots on target against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but it may be a price which offers some value.

The defender found the net in the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Man Utd earlier this month and Timber has hit 10 shots in the top-flight this season.

Mikel Arteta’s men will offer a major threat at set-pieces and that gives another avenue for the Dutchman to trouble the Eagles goal.
