Another international break looms large on the horizon next week, but first there’s a weekend of key Premier League clashes to dissect for punters. Arsenal’s title hopes will again be in sharp focus when they take on London rivals Chelsea on Sunday while Manchester City will want to stop the rot against Brighton a day earlier.
Premier League Gameweek 11 Preview
Table-toppers Liverpool host Aston Villa in a rare Saturday evening fixture in the top-flight before four fixtures on Sunday, including Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final match in interim charge of Manchester United and the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Below we pick out three standout tips from Gameweek 11 in the English top flight.
Tip 1 – Fulham to win at Crystal Palace @ 13/8 with Bet365
Harry Wilson’s injury-time heroics against Brentford on Monday night helped Fulham snap their three-match winless run, although it’s not like the Cottagers had been playing that badly.
The Cottagers were pegged back by a late equaliser for Everton last weekend and they more than held their own against Manchester City at the start of their winless spell.
Indeed, Fulham won the expected-goals metric 2.6-1.6 against the champions and they have also been the better side on visits to Ipswich and Everton. Marco Silva’s side are the only side to win away to high-flying Nottingham Forest this term, too.
That should give them confidence ahead of Saturday’s short hop to Selhurst Park, where Fulham have lost on just two of their previous eight visits.
Hosts Crystal Palace are 17th in the table and no great shakes, so the 13/8 about a Fulham success at Selhurst looks a worthy wager.
Tip 2 – Tottenham to win and both teams to score vs Ipswich @ 13/10 with Betano
Tottenham have bounced back from defeat at Crystal Palace to beat Manchester City in the League Cup and Aston Villa in the Premier League – and Spurs should build on those triumphs on Sunday when they host a winless Ipswich side.
The Tractor Boys have lost three of their last four matches, leaving them inside the bottom three, although both teams have scored in eight of their last 10 fixtures so they could make their mark in north London.
For all their good work, Spurs can still be unreliable at the back and have a habit of falling behind early on. The Lilywhites have kept only one clean sheet in their last eight league games and may again be breached in victory.
Tip 3 – Nottingham Forest to win and Chris Wood to score @ 9/2 with PariMatch
Chris Wood returned to St James’ Park to haunt his former side Newcastle with a hat-trick on Boxing Day last year and Nottingham Forest’s New Zealand international could hurt them once more this weekend.
Wood has scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances, netting five goals in that stretch, and has found the net in wins over West Ham and Palace in Forest’s last two games at the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won three matches on the spin to move up to third in the top-flight standings and they should trouble Newcastle, who tend to be seen to best effect when they are organised underdogs but can look a little lost when opponents sit back and invite pressure from them.
