DraftKings has become the PGA Tour’s first-ever sports betting partner.
The multi-vertical gambling operator DraftKings has expanded its partnership with the PGA Tour to become the golf tournament organiser’s first official sports betting operator.
This comes after DraftKings and the PGA Tour inked a content and marketing deal this time last year.
The deal
Under the expanded agreement, DraftKings will become the PGA Tour’s official sports betting partner, marking a first for the Tour.
By becoming an official sports betting partner, DraftKings will have the rights to use the PGA Tour’s trademarks in the US and have the right to advertise within the Tour’s media and partner platforms.
DraftKings have also secured content and video rights, allowing the operator to create pre-game and post-game betting programming. In addition to this, DraftKings will be able to distribute game highlights to customers who have placed bets on PGA Tour events.
Norb Gambuzza, PGA Tour senior vice president of media and gaming, said: “The PGA Tour couldn’t be more pleased with growing our collaboration with DraftKings. The growth in consumption and fan engagement we have seen over the last year in our DraftKings Daily Fantasy games has been tremendous.
“The expansion of the relationship to now include sports betting is a natural evolution and one which fully supports and promotes the PGA Tour’s objectives of reaching and engaging new segments of fans while introducing them to our players, tournaments and media platforms.”
Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer of DraftKings, said: “DraftKings and the PGA Tour have continued to make history with the innovative additions to our agreement which began last year.
“We are excited to further our relationship with the PGA Tour as their first Official Betting Operator as well. Golf has been an especially important outlet for fan engagement over these past few months, and this latest collaboration is a significant next step for both the golf and gaming industries.”
What has DraftKings been up to?
The daily fantasy sports provider turned multi-vertical gambling operator has been working to expand its presence in the US gambling space.
At the start of the month, DraftKings, and the land-based casino operator, Twin River Worldwide Holdings, announced the opening of a temporary land-based sportsbook at the Mardi Gras Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado.
DraftKings also launched its online casino platform in the state of West Virginia, signaling the launch of online casino gambling in the state.
The operator was also granted a temporary operating permit in the state of Illinois and once its land-based partner Casino Queen receives regulatory approval, DraftKings will be able to offer sports betting services in Illinois.
