New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers: Odds, Tips, Prop Bets and Predictions for Monday Night Football

In the first of two Monday Night Football games tonight, we have an NFC South matchup between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. Below we’ll bring you the latest odds, tips, prop bets and predictions as we preview this divisional matchup.

The Saints snuck past the Titans 16-15 in Week 1 thanks to an elite defensive performance including three interceptions and a steady debut from Derek Carr at quarterback. Their run game stuttered a bit and they certainly left points out on the field, but they will have been happy to have got to 1-0.

The major talking point for the Panthers last week was the debut of first-overall pick Bryce Young at quarterback. He struggled against the Falcons’ defence, going 20/38, 146 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. He showed a few flashes of why he was picked at no.1, but the Panthers looked like they are short on talent and will certainly struggle this year.

Both of these teams struggled to put points on the board last week, and will both want to improve offensively this week. The difference between these two offences in talent however is stark – Derek Carr has been a great pro for many years at quarterback; Michael Thomas, Chris Olave and Rasheed Shahid and is an exceptionally talented receiver room, and Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller are a talented one-two punch at running back. 

On the other hand, Bryce Young is only in his second game and the Panthers traded away their star receiver to the Bears in the offseason, leaving them with a lack of true talent at the position. Their running backs David Montgomery and Chuba Hubbard showed that they could be the stars of this team in Week 1 and lessen the load on Young, but will be inconsistent.

Both teams will be improved on last week and put up points, but the Saints will have too much for the Panthers and will cover the spread.
