The Premier League action continues this Wednesday as we have top-of-the-table Liverpool hosting Chelsea at Anfield. We’ve previewed the big game and picked out two bets that we think represent decent value.

Van Dijk 1+ shot on target

First up we’ve taken a look at the shot on target market and highlighted Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk as our man for an effort on goal. The defender is currently averaging 0.4 shots on target in the Premier League but the value in this bet may lie within the corner count for Liverpool.

When it comes to being awarded corners Liverpool have had over seven corners at Anfield in 70% of their games in the league this season and the thinking behind this is if they are having so many chances from corners, Van Dijk is likely to have a couple of chances from these.

Liverpool are big favourites for this game and are expected to have the majority of possession and efforts on goal. Looking at Chelsea’s record away from home it isn’t great reading for Chelsea fans as they lost five of their last six games on the road, even in their one recent away away win against Luton, they still conceded seven corners which should give punters confidence in backing the Liverpool corners.

Conor Gallagher to be carded

Up next we’re in the player bookings market and we’ve highlighted Conor Gallagher to be carded. This is a bet that has proven popular with punters this season with how often Gallagher commits fouls.

The Chelsea midfielder is miles ahead of anyone else in the Premier League when it comes to fouls committed with a staggering 47 fouls in 20 games, the next highest in the league being Abdoulaye Doucoure with 34 fouls.

As previously mentioned Liverpool are expected to have most of the possession in this game with them being such big favourites, this could very well lead to frustration in the middle of the park from Chelsea players and with Gallagher being such a liability in that area, he looks like a great bet for a booking.
