Euro 2022 – England vs Norway Betting Preview

England face their toughest test in the group stage, against a Norway team boosted by the return of their hero and Ballon D’or winner Ada Hegerberg. The match kicks off at 8pm at Brighton’s Amex Stadium, and should be one of the highlights of the group stages.

Norway showcased their attacking power against Northern Ireland, with Guro Reitan’s trademark free kick the pick of the bunch in a 4-1 win where Norway should have scored more. Reitan, along with Julie Blakstad, will provide England with plenty of problems down the left side if the game against Northern Ireland is anything to go by. Add the elite level Hegerberg and Caroline Graham Hansen, and you can see a credible threat to England’s back line for the first time since last year’s friendlies against France and Canada. 

England are no slouches in the scoring department either, with their 1-0 win against Austria the first time they hadn’t beaten their opponents by 2 or more goals in 6 games. Lauren Hemp looked especially threatening, providing plenty of crosses for the in-form Beth Mead. They are heavily favoured to win outright, so this market is more appealing.

Following on from the first tip, a correct score is a fun outside bet to consider. This game will be very competitive, and the attacking talent on display should result in goals for both teams. England have only conceded 1 goal in their last 10 games, and Norway were wasteful with their chances against Northern Ireland, so I wouldn’t expect too many goals to be conceded by England, so a close 2-1 win for the Lionesses could be on the cards.
