DraftKings has expanded its online casino offering with the launch of a new product.
The US betting giant DraftKings has announced the launch of a new digital craps game, DK Craps, bolstering the operators’ online offering in New Jersey.
Developed by the operator’s in-house game development team, DK Craps is the latest online casino product in DraftKings’ suite of products.
DK Craps goes live in NJ
DK Craps is a digital craps game that features custom graphics and DraftKings branding that has been developed by DraftKings’ own game development team.
According to the announcement the launch of DK Craps in New Jersey expands on “494 existing DraftKings Casino games” that have been approved in the US.
DraftKings’ new product offering features that allow for “seamless” in-app gameplay and allow users to place multiple bets with a single tap. The app also features in-game tutorials and on-screen help for new users.
The daily fantasy sports provider turned online gambling giant plans to launch the product in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia upon receiving regulatory approval.
Jason March, DraftKings Vice President, iGaming said: “As the most realistic craps game on the market, we are excited to offer a premier online experience within our top-rated Casino product.
“Craps was a challenging game to develop given the seemingly endless paths players can take, so I could not be prouder of our internal teams taking on this game development to deliver an authentic experience.”
Filling a gap in the online craps space
With the launch of this new product, DraftKings is hoping to fill a gap in the US online casino market.
Although craps is one of the most popular games at land-based casinos, only a handful of legal online US casinos offer craps games.
The reasoning for this is that a player can’t walk away after any roll but must wait to roll a 7 or the point number to resolve a pass line bet. In addition to this, there are so many betting options available it can be difficult for new players to figure out how to play without guidance from other players.
Out of New Jersey’s nearly 30 online casinos, only four of them offer craps, these include Tropicana Casino, Scores Casino, Pala Casino, and Virgin Casino.
However, with those four operators, craps must be played in an internet browser and are not optimized for in-app play. This makes DraftKings one of the first legal US operators to optimize craps for play in a mobile casino app.
