DraftKings has launched the first phase of its New Jersey online casino platform making the company a multi-vertical gambling operator.
This news comes just months after the launch of the DraftKings Sportsbook mobile app in New Jersey.
On Monday, DraftKings Casino was integrated into the DraftKings Sportsbook app and is available to bettors in New Jersey.
At the time of writing, DraftKings Casino is only available on Android devices and the only game live at the moment is blackjack. More games and an iOS app are expected to launch in the future.
Just like DraftKings Sportsbook platform, DraftKings Casino is licensed under Resorts Atlantic City.
Resorts also operates its own online casino platform and holds a license for PokerStars and Mohegan Sun. Figures show that online casinos in the state generate around $25m a month.
In the beginning, DraftKings was a fantasy sports site, an alternative to sports betting. Now, DraftKings operates both online and land-based sports betting operations in multiple US states as well as an online casino in New Jersey.
This launch of DraftKings Casino puts DraftKings on the same playing field as other operators in the state like 888, PokerStars and SugarHouse.
FanDuel, DraftKings main competitor, might be the next company to launch an online casino in the states as both companies have typically matched each other’s offerings in the past.
When DraftKings launched their Pick ‘Em game last year, FanDuel matched this with a similar offering called QuickPick. In the New Jersey sports betting market, both companies were among the first to launch their sports betting apps.
