Arsenal vs Liverpool Betting Preview

Arsenal v Liverpool Betting Preview

Arsenal host Liverpool on Sunday October 26th, with the game kicking off at 16:30 BST. The match will be played in North London at the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium and will be available to UK viewers on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

Setting The Scene for this Arsenal V Liverpool clash

Most football fans would argue that Sunday’s clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium is the biggest match of the Premier League season so far.

In addition to a shared rivalry dating back throughout the competition’s history, both sides harbour real ambitions of lifting the title in England’s top-flight this campaign. Consequently, both sides will look at this weekend’s clash as a chance to really cement their place as title challengers with victory.

Arsenal potentially need the win more than their opponents, as they begin this round of fixtures sat in third spot and four points adrift of the Reds at the top of the standings. Last time out in the league they were shocked by Bournemouth, losing 2-0 on the South Coast in a match in which star defender William Saliba was dismissed.

That leaves them without the France international in this crucial clash and, with Martin Odegaard also missing through injury, manager Mikel Arteta will be rueing his bad luck on the selection front. This fixture also marks the Spaniard’s first battle in the dug-out with new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, who has made a phenomenal impact at Anfield so far this campaign.

With his side’s 1-0 win over RB Leipzig in midweek Champions League action, the Dutchman also made history by becoming the first English top-flight manager to win as many as 11 of his first 12 games in charge across all competitions. Next up he’ll be looking to claim the biggest win of his Reds’ career to date and, at the same time, break Arsenal’s four-match unbeaten run in the top-flight against the Anfield club.

Tip 1: Draw or Liverpool – 1/2 with bet365

Despite holding the recent supremacy in this Premier League fixture, Arsenal will have to be at their very best to beat Liverpool on Sunday.  Without Saliba and Odegaard, the home side will be without two of their biggest stars and overall of late, they’ve hardly been convincing even in their wins.

They only just managed to defeat Leicester in stoppage time in late September, whilst their performance against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek was far from inspiring.  With the Reds winning all six of their away fixtures so far this campaign, they seem the most likely to take the three points here if a victor is to be found.

Tip 2: Mo Salah to score first – 11/2 with bet365

With five goals across his opening eight league games so far in the 2024/25 campaign, Liverpool’s Mo Salah remains as one of the deadliest goalscorers in Europe.

In his latest Premier League outing against Chelsea, he netted from the spot to bring up 162 strikes in the competition, the joint-ninth most by a player in history, level with Jermain Defoe. Of that overall total, 46 have served as match opening strikes, with his penalty against the Blues last weekend being one of those.

That leaves him as a very likely candidate in that market again this Sunday, something also highlighted by his return of 10 goals across 16 prior meetings with Arsenal, even if only two of those strikes have come at the Emirates.
