When it comes to betting the Super Bowl, there’s something for everyone. Of course, there are the standard bets on the games — the sides and total — as well as a myriad of player props. However, those are far from the only props available.
The Super Bowl is famous for its plethora of novelty props and this year is no different. Here’s a look at a few fun props that may be worth throwing a little bit of money on for some added excitement on Sunday evening.
Coin Toss Outcome
Tails -105
Heads -105
Coin Toss Winner
Rams -105
Bengals -105
There are two ways to bet the coin toss, but the odds are the same all around. So, whether you prefer to bet the toss itself or the winner is simply a matter of personal preference. As for the data, we’ve all heard that “tails never fails” but is that true?
Well, when it comes to the Super Bowl, tails has come up slightly more often than heads, but, of course, it’s been about 50-50. The coin toss has come up tails 29 times and heads 26 times. Over the past 10 years, it’s an even 5-5 split with heads winning three of the past four.
Color of Gatorade Poured on Winning Coach
Clear/Water +250
Orange +300
Yellow/Green +350
Blue +400
None +600
Red/Pink +1200
Purple +1400
The postgame Gatorade shower is always a fun bet to make since it’s seemingly random and there is plus money all around. This is obviously tough to handicap, but having clear/water as the favorite makes sense. Orange, despite not being one of the best flavors, has been on quite a run of late, having cashed five times over the past 12 Super Bowls. Blue, the best Gatorade flavor, has been dumped on the coach in two of the past three seasons, so perhaps that’s a sign that the tastes of NFL teams are improving.
Just had a long conversation with a sports bettor putting down a prop bet on the color of the Super Bowl gatorade. Insisted he had a system. Conversation ended with me saying, "this is the craziest conversation I've ever had in my life."

Will there be an Octopus?
Yes +1400
No -2500
Admittedly, when I first saw this prop listed I thought it had something to do with the halftime show (such as Katy Perry and the left shark) or maybe a commercial. However, after some minor digging, I learned that an octopus is an obscure football stat that reflects when the same player who scores a touchdown, scores the ensuing two-point conversion. Eight points, eight tentacles. Makes sense.

So after learning what it is, is it worth betting on? There have been 169 octopuses in the NFL since the two-point conversion was added in 1994 and there have been six this season. It’s not likely, but it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility either and at +1400 it could be something fun to root for after each touchdown.
Will there be more goals in NHL on Super Bowl Sunday or 1st half points in the Super Bowl?
Total goals -140
1st half points +115
If you’re also a fan of hockey and are going to be watching more than just the Super Bowl on Sunday, this is a good way to tie all your interests together. There are four hockey games scheduled for Sunday with the latest starting at 2:00 p.m. ET, meaning those who play this prop should know what number they need before the Super Bowl kicks off.
The eight NHL teams playing Sunday average a combined 23.98 goals per game. The 1st half over-under for the Super Bowl? 23.5.
Take your pick.
Will there be more Atlanta Hawks points or Cooper Kupp receiving yards?
Cooper Kupp receiving yards -115
Atlanta Hawks total points -105
The Hawks are averaging 111.9 points per game, though the Celtics have one of the best defenses in basketball and are holding opponents to 103.8 points per game. Kupp meanwhile averaged 114.5 yards per game this season and has exploded for 183 and 142 yards in each of his past two games. Kupp may be the play here, but it also may be tough for Los Angeles fans to root for the Celtics and a strong defensive effort.
What will be more: Jayson Tatum made threes or Rams total touchdowns?
Rams total touchdowns -200
Tatum threes made +160
Jayson Tatum is averaging 2.8 made three per game. If he sticks to that number, it’s not too far-fetched to think the Rams will get three touchdowns and at least push. However, Tatum has hit four threes seven times and five or more 10 times. That’d be asking a lot of the Rams’ offense.
What will be more: Trae Young made threes or Bengals total touchdowns?
Young threes made -115
Bengals total touchdowns -105
Trae Young is averaging 2.9 made threes per game, though he did hit six on Tuesday night. Young has hit three or fewer threes on 31 occasions this season and hit four or more 18 teams. Similar to the Atlanta Hawks total points/Cooper Kupp receiving yards prop, a bet on the Bengals here is also a bet on the Celtics defense.
