Source: A ‘Flat-Out Lie’ That Kyler Murray Calls Girlfriend at Halftime of Games

Kyler Murray’s character has been attacked repeatedly over the past few days in an apparent response to the recent scrubbing of Cardinals references from his Instagram page.

On Super Bowl Sunday, ESPN writer Chris Mortensen spoke to a pair of anonymous Cardinals sources who said Murray was self-centered, immature and a finger-pointer.

On Monday, Arizona Sports radio host Dan Bickley said this on air: “I recently heard that at halftime of games, he is known to call his girlfriend or sit at his locker wearing earbuds. In other words, not exactly plugged into the collective.”

A source expressed disbelief at such an accusation, telling Compare.bet that Murray does not call his girlfriend during games.

“Flat-out lie,” the source said.

The Cardinals drafted Murray No. 1 overall in 2019 following one of the worst offensive seasons in recent NFL history. He was named Rookie of the Year after leading a stark turnaround and has been named to the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.

Murray was a front-runner for MVP through 13 weeks of the season according to Vegas odds, but the Cardinals’ offense fell off sharply down the stretch without All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The 24-year-old Murray is currently eligible for a contract extension after making an average of $8.1 million over his first three seasons due to the slotted rookie wage scale, a number significantly under his true market value.
