Lamar Jackson’s future will dominate the NFL’s offseason chatter for the next few months.
The former MVP is a pending free agent, and while the Ravens can use the franchise tag on him, it remains to be seen if the relationship has deteriorated to the point that Jackson wants out.
If so, two teams stand out as the most likely destinations. DraftKings has unveiled Jackson’s next team odds if he leaves the Ravens, and the Jets and Falcons lead the way.
The Jets have +250 odds to land Jackson if he leaves Baltimore, with Atlanta listed close behind at +350 odds. Here are the 10 teams with the best odds to add Jackson provided he leaves the Ravens, per DraftKings on January 17:
- Jets +250
- Falcons +350
- Panthers +750
- Raiders +750
- Commanders +900
- Patriots +900
- Dolphins +1000
- Colts +1000
- Titans +1200
- Seahawks +1200
Despite his consistent greatness, there has not been a long-term deal struck between Jackson and the Ravens. Furthermore, Jackson missed the final five games of the regular season and Baltimore’s wild card loss to the Bengals with a sprained knee.
He didn’t travel with the team to Cincinnati, leading to more conjecture that there is a rift between the two sides. Baltimore knows the value Jackson brings but if he presses the issue it will be interesting to see if he is dealt this offseason.
Even though he is a pending free agent, Jackson will be franchise-tagged by Baltimore so it retains his rights. But that wouldn’t rule out a trade, and the Jets and Falcons would both make sense.
Each team is rebuilding and has a giant hole at quarterback. The Jets would likely be very aggressive in adding Jackson since they have a top-tier defense and playmakers on offense already. He would make them legitimate contenders in the AFC immediately.
The Falcons have added some intriguing pieces on offense through the past couple of drafts but Marcus Mariota was not the answer at quarterback. Atlanta has been rebuilding for the past two seasons and would no doubt like to strike if Jackson becomes available.
The Panthers had a bunch of success with Cam Newton under center in past years and could duplicate that play-style with Jackson.
