Sportsbook operators accepted $691 million in wagers in Arizona during the month of March, setting a new record.
It was a 40% increase from February, buoyed by March Madness. The handle resulted in $1.7 million in privilege fees being contributed to the state, according to the Arizona Department of Gaming. FanDuel was the most profitable operator in March, making $8.6 million.
“March was an exciting month for Arizona event wagering, with major sporting events like NCAA’s March Madness helping set a single-month event wagering handle record,” ADG Director Ted Vogt said in a press release. “I look forward to seeing how the industry continues to develop as we finish out the first year of legal event wagering in the coming months.”
The state of Arizona legalized sports betting on Sept. 9, in time for football season, and it’s notable that the handle increased even in a non-NFL month. The previous record was set in January, when $563.7 million was wagered.

BetMGM made $3.6 million profit in March, the second-most behind FanDuel, followed by DraftKings ($3.2 million), Caesars ($2.4 million), Barstool Sports ($418,000) and WynnBet ($220,000), per ADG.
