It’s time for three more prop bets for Sunday’s action. I have kept you enthralled all day with these, choosing bets for the London game, an early-window matchup and the Sunday Night Football showdown.
Here they are:
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers over 226.5 passing yards (-115)
The passing game is off to a clunky start for Green Bay and the running game is working, so a deflated passing yards total is expected, but boy this number is low. The Packers are eight-point favorites against the New York Giants in their early Sunday matchup in London, and maybe the oddsmakers believe Green Bay will cruise and shut down the passing attack.
But if this game stays close at all, Rodgers will need to throw, and even if it doesn’t, he has the type of talent to surpass this number in three quarters. Rodgers is averaging 233.8 passing yards per game this season and 7.1 yards per attempt. Even if he doesn’t approach the gargantuan numbers he put up the past two years in back-to-back MVP campaigns, improvement should be coming.
I’m riding that wave, jumping on this opportunity to get Rodgers’ passing yards’ total so low.
Buccaneers QB Tom Brady under 0.5 rushing yards (-120)
How about this riveting rushing total? Brady is a statue in the pocket, rarely choosing to leave unless he’s flushed out by a pass-rusher or three. Will he sneak out a yard or two on Sunday against the Falcons? I don’t think so.
Brady has six carries for negative-4 yards on the year and has failed to reach a yard in any game this season. The Buccaneers are comfortable favorites in this game, which means Brady probably won’t need to be playing Superman by rushing for the chains on a crucial third down.
Here’s the kicker that sold it for me: Even if Brady rushes for a yard or two early in the game, the Buccaneers might kneel on the football late to wrap up the win. Every time Brady takes a knee, it would be a loss of at least one yard. It’s a great option to have just in case he does put up some early yardage.
Ravens K Justin Tucker over 1.5 field goals (-125)
Tucker is the best kicker in football playing alongside a juggernaut of an offense. So why is the over/under only looking at two field goals? Well, John Harbaugh does not like settling for them, as we witnessed late in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, when he went for it on fourth down instead of taking a three-point lead.
Despite this, Sunday night’s game against the Bengals should be a competitive one, and if the Ravens get ahead, Tucker could be called upon to push the lead with some field goal conversions.
And if the contest is tied late, he could be in line to be the hero. There are a lot of scenarios in which Tucker hits two or more field goals in this matchup, and he’s so good that we will likely only need two attempts, no matter the distance.
This week’s record: 1-2
Overall: 24-19
