2022 Week 15 MNF Betting Preview: Aaron Rodgers Passing Touchdowns and Two Other Prop Bets for Rams-Packers

We wrap up Week 15 with this Monday Night Football showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. Both were great last season but are among the dregs of the NFL in 2022.

Here are three prop bets I like

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-115 at DraftKings)

It’s been an underwhelming season for Rodgers, whose drop-off has been stark compared to his back-to-back MVP campaigns leading up to this season. Even so, one thing he’s been able to do consistently this season is throw two-plus touchdown passes in games, doing so in nine of 12 matchups.

It’s going to be cold in Green Bay for this showdown but the wind will be negligible, so Green Bay should still be able to move the ball through the air. The Rams are No. 4 against the run this season so the Packers could find it hard to rush the ball, especially in tight quarters near the goal-line.

Christian Watson has emerged at receiver and Rodgers has carte blanche to change the play at the line of scrimmage, which means a quick throw or RPO action could happen on run calls. Rodgers enjoys being in the spotlight, and I think he finds a way to throw for a pair of scores in this matchup against a depleted Rams squad.

Rams WR Ben Skowronek over 2.5 receptions (-150 at BetMGM)

Skowronek is going to be one of the main aerial options for Baker Mayfield in this matchup. Skowronek and his new quarterback found immediate chemistry against the Raiders, hooking up seven times for 89 yards on eight targets.

Skowronek didn’t have three or more catches in the six games previously but Los Angeles is down Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson, which means there are way more opportunities for the young wideouts on the field.

Skowronek played 100% of the snaps for the first time this season last time out and should be a major piece here. Mayfield does not have a huge projected completions total, but if Los Angeles is trailing late, he could be forced to air it out, and the Skowronek over could be the beneficiary.

Rams RB Kyren Williams longest rush under 8.5 yards (+100 at BetMGM)

Williams is an explosive player, but he only received three rushing attempts in each of the past two games. Volume is the big question mark for me in this matchup.

Cam Akers is expected to be the main running back with Williams being interspersed at an unknown frequency. The Packers are last in the NFL in rush defense efficiency so I understand why this side of the coin is the underdog, but it would still take a sizable gain for the over to hit.

Game script is another factor. The Rams might not be running the ball very much late if they find themselves trailing by a significant number of points. Williams is certainly an intriguing player, but until coach Sean McVay shows a willingness to get him regular touches, I will keep hitting the unders on his player props.
