The Bills, Giants and Jets are off to fast starts this season, and it’s showing up in the futures odds for several end-of-season awards.
Four New York players are currently favored to win a category this season, per BetMGM:
- Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the +150 favorite to win MVP
- Jets running back Breece Hall is the +275 favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year
- Jets cornerback Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner is the +275 favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year
- Giants running back Saquon Barkley is the prohibitive -250 favorite to claim Comeback Player of the Year
Additionally, Giants coach Brian Daboll has the second-best odds (+425) to win Coach of the Year behind only the Eagles’ Nick Sirianni, while Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has the second-best odds (+600) to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
The Bills began the season as the Super Bowl favorites and have only tightened their grip on that status. They beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and Allen is playing at a high level. He was the preseason favorite to claim the hardware, and if he continues on this pace, it will very likely happen.
Hall has been on a tear of late for the 4-2 Jets, averaging 93 rushing yards and a touchdown at a 5.1 yards-per-carry clip the past three weeks. He has surged past Texans running back Dameon Pierce and into the lead as the best rookie on offense.
Gardner has lived up to his draft status with a fantastic start to his career. He has eight passes defended and an interception in addition to playing sticky coverage for a Jets defense that asks a lot from its cornerbacks. Thibodeuax is tied with Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd for the second-best odds among rookie defenders, followed by Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen at +800 odds.
Barkley has 616 rushing yards, 155 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the 5-1 Giants, and has looked like the superstar of years past before injuries bit him. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has the second-best odds at +600, but this award is Barkley’s to lose.
New York teams are thriving right now, and some of the standout individual performers could be recognized with NFL awards if this keeps up.
