BetMGM, a renowned name in the global gambling industry, has a storied legacy rooted in the luxury and excitement of MGM Resorts. Following a successful launch of its online betting platform in the United States, the brand has now expanded its reach to the UK, arriving in the summer of 2023.

Is BetMGM worth a look for UK players, especially considering the wide range of existing top-notch casinos? We’ll tell all in this detailed deep dive into what this new casino site has to offer, from its games library and promotions to payment options and customer support. Whether you’re a seasoned bettor or new to the scene, read on to discover whether BetMGM could be the perfect casino for you.

Pros and cons

  • No wagering free spins;
  • Over 500 slots;
  • Over 100 live dealer titles;
  • Free daily prize wheel;
  • Apple Pay and PayPal supported.
  • 35x wagering requirements for bonus cash reward;
  • Limited payment options;
  • Few ongoing promotions.

Welcome Bonus

BetMGM’s welcome bonus for new players is a juicy two-parter. It works a little differently to other bonuses, and the amount you receive is based on your deposit size:

  • Deposit £10 and get 10 free spins plus £10 cash;
  • Deposit £50 and get 25 free spins plus £50 cash;
  • Deposit £100 and get 50 free spins plus £100 cash.

In our view, the free spins are definitely the best part of this offer. Valid for Big Bass Splash, they’re granted as soon as you make your qualifying deposit, and have no wagering requirements so any winnings are yours to withdraw.

To receive the accompanying cash reward, you first have to complete the 35x wagering requirements within 7 days of deposit. This will be a tough ask for most players — for the £10 cash bonus, that would mean betting £350 of your own money before receiving it. For that reason, we’d recommend keeping your sights on the no wagering free spins instead.

On the plus side, this offer can be claimed not just once, but twice, with your first two deposits eligible.

Games

Blackjack

Table games are arguably an area BetMGM could devote a little more attention to, and that includes RNG blackjack. We found just five options here, although on the plus side they’re all high-quality titles from Microgaming, Golden Rock, and Switch Studios.

If BetMGM wants to compete with the best in this area, we’d love to see it add more regional variants like Vegas Downtown or Atlantic City, along with the much sought-after single-deck blackjack known for its low house edge.

Roulette

As with the blackjack library, BetMGM’s RNG roulette catalogue is a little limited. There are 11 games in total, although we were glad to see the basic variants covered with several European and American roulette titles. There’s even 100 to 1 Roulette thrown into the mix, plus an intriguing Immortal Romance-themed spinoff.

Slots

With over 500 slots in the library, this is certainly the most varied area of BetMGM’s games catalogue. We were pleased to see the inclusion of fan favourites like Book of Dead, Starburst, and the Big Bass series alongside a plethora of hidden gems from smaller games studios.

The available slots are highly diverse, spanning all manner of themes. We encountered exciting mechanics like Megaways, offering thousands of ways to win, and progressive jackpots for those seeking the thrilling potential of an enormous win. Likewise, there’s a range of stakes, volatilities, and RTPs available so you can find a game that suits your budget and preferences.

Live Casino

Another strength of BetMGM is its excellent collection of live dealer games. This didn’t surprise us on account of the brand’s reputation within the brick-and-mortar casino business. Nonetheless, we remained highly impressed with the offering.

There’s a particularly wide choice in terms of live dealer blackjack and roulette, with titles from the likes of Evolution, OnAir Entertainment, Pragmatic Play, and Playtech — some of the best names in the business.

We were also thrilled to find a broad array of game shows, including Crazy Pachinko, Treasure Island, Funky Time, and Gonzo’s Treasure Map. These titles are perfect if you want to shake things up with some highly unique gameplay.

BetMGM’s live casino features a huge variety of live dealer games, including exclusive live blackjack and roulette games.

Design & Usability

The user interface of BetMGM has certainly had some love put into it — it’s one of the most polished casino platforms we’ve seen, and not just because of its golden trim. Navigating the library feels buttery smooth, while accessing different areas of the site is simple and intuitive.

Arguably, the slots catalogue could do with some more granular filtering options. There are 500 titles here, after all!

That said, we’re pleased to report our experience with the BetMGM site was free from glitches or technical issues at every step.

App Review

While BetMGM does offer a native app for its sportsbook product, it’s yet to launch one for the casino side of the business.

Nonetheless, players can still enjoy their favourite slots and table games on the go thanks to the well-oiled mobile site. It offers the same library as you’ll find on the desktop version of the site, with games fully compatible with a range of handheld devices including tablets and phones, regardless of operating system.

The BetMGM mobile site lets you spin the reels or take on the dealer any time, anywhere.

Promotions

Another aspect of BetMGM we’d like to see rounded out further is the selection of ongoing promotions — there’s currently only one available.

In fairness, it’s a pretty good offer if you ask us. Every day, players get to spin the Golden Wheel for a chance to land free spins, live casino chips, profit boosts, or even a real-life trip to Vegas for two. It’s free to enter, so there’s really nothing to lose.

Of course, a generous roster of ongoing promotions is one way to ensure existing customers continue to get value from an online casino. BetMGM will likely have to up its game if it wants players to stick around for the long term!

Cashier

No online casino is perfect — and, despite the many strengths of BetMGM, the site does have a few areas it could improve. Its payment options are one such area, with just debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and bank transfer supported. To be fair, the majority of players will be content with these options, but we’d love to see more e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller included, as well as alternative options like Trustly and Paysafecard.

Furthermore, BetMGM makes no commitments on its payout speed other than five working days. If you want the best chance of a fast withdrawal, we’d recommend picking PayPal.

Withdrawals and Deposit

Min deposit Minimum Withdrawal Limit Withdrawal Processing Time
Debit cards £10 £10 Up to 5 days
Bank transfer  £10 £10 Up to 5 days
PayPal £10 £10 Up to 5 days
Apple Pay £10 £10 Up to 5 days

VIP and Loyalty Rewards

BetMGM is one of the rare online casinos that does indeed offer a VIP scheme. Titled ‘The Club’, it’s by invitation only — we’re not quite sure what qualifies you for entry, but it’s likely a substantial volume of bets or deposits every month.

Perks of The Club include a key account manager, premium rewards and gifts, personalised bonuses, and exclusive in-person events like sports or live music tickets.

Unfortunately, there’s no loyalty scheme for players on more typical budgets. VoodooDreams and Duelz are two sites worth checking out if this is a feature you’re seeking.

Our Verdict

At the end of the day, we found plenty to like about BetMGM. At a general level, we were big fans of the user experience and vast library of games, which means this site is certainly worth considering if you’re not too bothered about the finer details.

However, if you’re looking for flexible payment methods and fast withdrawals, or a wider selection of ongoing promotions, you might want to consider a different site.

We have mixed feelings about the welcome bonus — for one, we love the fact the free spins are free from wagering requirements, not to mention the ability to claim the bonus twice. On the other hand, the need to complete wagering requirements before receiving the cash portion of the bonus puts it out of reach of most players. Seeing as we often like to treat bonus casino credit as a way to test out new games risk-free, we found this slightly frustrating. That said, it’s hard to argue with a casino that offers a no wagering bonus, even if it’s small!
