2021 Heisman Trophy  – Latest Developments on Odds & Favorites:

  • December 6th –  Alabama quarterback Bryce Young ended the Heisman Trophy drama with a stellar showing against a great Georgia defense in the SEC Championship game on Saturday. Michigan star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson made a late push, while Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud, Pitt QB Kenny Pickett and Ole Miss QB Matt Corral had solid seasons, but Young is now the huge favorite to come away with the award.
  • November 29th –  Ohio State lost to Michigan on Saturday, and while C.J. Stroud’s individual numbers were decent, it was a big blow to the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff hopes. Stroud dropped behind Alabama’s Bryce Young in the Heisman race. Young wasn’t that good against Auburn, but the Crimson Tide rallied late for the win to keep their national championship hopes alive. This remains a two-way race, with Young back in the driver’s seat.
  • November 22nd –  Ohio State quarterback C.J Stroud was a longshot to begin the season but has now overtaken Alabama quarterback Bryce Young as the Heisman Trophy favorite. Stroud was phenomenal on Saturday against Michigan State, completing 32-of-35 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns in just over two quarters of work. Young was also dominant, throwing for an insane 559 yards and five touchdowns against Arkansas. Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker saw his odds drop as this is a two-way race down the stretch.
  • November 15th –  Ohio State quarterback C.J Stroud is storming into serious Heisman Trophy contention. He completed 31-of-38 passes for 361 yards and five touchdowns on Saturday against Purdue and is now right behind the favorite, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker is also right in the mix as there is still plenty to be decided down the stretch of the college football season.
  • November 11th –  Alabama quarterback Bryce Young remains atop the field but several other candidates are closing the gap. Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker now has the second-best odds, followed by Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral has seen his odds dip, while Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams and Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett are aiming to make a late charge.
  • October 26th –  Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has regained control as the favorite after throwing for 371 yards and scoring four touchdowns last time out. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral is still hanging around, while Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett are gaining ground. A wild card is Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams, who wasn’t even a candidate when the season began but has made some serious noise after replacing Spencer Rattler as the Sooners’ signal-caller.
  • October 19th –  Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Ole Miss signal-caller Matt Corral both had strong performances on Saturday, as they remain the clear front-runners to win the Heisman Trophy. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud is a distant third, and if anyone else plans to get in the mix, they will need to start stringing together some standout showings.
  • October 12th – Bryce Young and Matt Corral continue to duke it out for favorite status. Young is slightly ahead, although Alabama’s loss last time out to Texas A&M has taken some wind out of his sail. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud is aiming to make this a three-way race and has seen his odds improve. Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker and Texas running back Bijan Robinson are also hanging around as candidates.
  • September 29th – Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral remains the player to beat, and he will go head-to-head against Bryce Young and Alabama this weekend. The signal-caller that performs better will likely come away from the game as the clear-cut Heisman Trophy favorite.
  • September 22nd – Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral shot to the top of the Heisman Trophy race after his monster seven-touchdown performance on Saturday against Tulane. Corral has nine passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns this year and has yet to throw an interception. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young dropped a little bit but he is still neck-and-neck with Corral.
  • September 6th – It was a subpar opening weekend for many Heisman Trophy hopefuls. Preseason favorite Spencer Rattler struggled, as did fellow quarterbacks Sam Howell, D.J. Uiagalelei, J.T. Daniels and D’Eriq King. Who took advantage? Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who was 27-of-38 for 344 yards passing and four touchdowns in a rout of Miami. It was Young’s first career start, and the performance has already zoomed him into pole position for the Heisman Trophy.

About the data

We monitor trends in odds on key markets of interest by tracking a range of UK and international bookmakers. The update frequency varies, but is clearly shown on all our tables and charts. After fetching odds direct from bookies, we convert them to implied probability to make them easier to manage (read more on implied probability and converting from fractional to % probability). We then take the mean average implied probability to get a consensus view across the betting industry. This average implied probability is what we show on our charts and tables.
