Paysafecard Explained

What is Paysafecard?

Paysafecard is a prepaid voucher that can be purchased online or at participating retailers around the UK. Each voucher has a set value from £10 to £100 and comes with a printed 16-digit code. This can then be used to transfer the money to your account at Paysafecard sports betting sites.

So, why opt to use this payment method? A primary reason is security. As you’re using the Paysafecard voucher code to top up your betting account, there’s no need to share any financial details with the bookmaker. And once the voucher has been spent, that’s it — it can’t be overdrawn. This also makes it an excellent tool for keeping track of your spend when you bet online, as you’ll need another voucher if you want to make further deposits.

There is a drawback though — Paysafecard can’t typically be used for withdrawals at online bookmakers so you’ll need to pair it with another service to cash out.

Review of the Best Paysafecard Betting Sites

  • Alongside Paysafecard, HeySpin supports many other payment options, including MuchBetter, AstroPay, Trustly and Skrill. On registering with the site, I was able to accept a welcome bonus offer that gave me an extra £10 to bet with when I deposited and bet £15 of my own cash. This isn’t the biggest of offers but it’s certainly a nice boost to help get you started. I was, however, disappointed to see so many payment methods excluded from this promotion, including Paysafecard, Trustly, Skrill, PayPal and Neteller. Once you’re in, there’s a great selection of sports to bet on — including some niche markets you don’t often see available, such as handball, waterpolo and hurling.

The site is easy to navigate and is displayed with a dark background against the recognisable HeySpin gold writing. A tab for in-play betting is located near the logo on the main page and here you’ll find a breakdown of ongoing events — either what’s happening currently or an overview of the whole day’s schedule. For me, all these useful features make betting with HeySpin a real joy.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Huge selection of sports markets
    • Easy to switch between casino and sportsbook
    • Live chat available
    cons icon Cons:
    • Many ineligible payment options in the welcome offer T&Cs
  • Luckster is another site that’s easy to sign up to and navigate around all the potential betting options. The layout is similar in look and feel to HeySpin, which is unsurprisingly considering the fact that they are both run off Aspire Global International software. At the time of this review, there were four sports promotions available for customers — with the welcome offer being a £10 bet voucher when you deposit and wager £10 of your own cash. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make a payment via Paysafecard in order to accept the promotion as this, along with Skrill, Neteller, and PayPal, are all ineligible. I was, however, able to make subsequent deposits via Paysafecard for regular bets. Overall, Luckster is a decent site and one I’d definitely recommend trying out. There’s all the betting features you’d hope to see, plus casino games readily available at the click of a button when you fancy a change.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Broad sports market representation
    • Bet builder available for over eight sports
    • Well laid site with convenient bet slip in the corner of the main page
    cons icon Cons:
    • Customer support only available from 8am till midnight
  • When I first landed on Bzeebet, it took a few minutes for me to work out where to go first — there are a lot of words and options on the landing page so it can seem slightly disorienting. Once I’d worked out what I wanted to bet on, it didn’t take me long to find as, like most sportsbooks, each of the sports are listed down the left hand side. One thing I did particularly like about Bzeebet is the ease at which you can live chat to someone on the site. There’s a tab at the top of the page for live chat alongside other useful means of customer support, so they definitely prioritise helping their users.

Making a deposit with Paysafecard was really easy and there are lots of alternative payment options available for when it comes to withdrawing from your account, including MuchBetter, Trustly, Skrill and AstroPay.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Lots of promotions available for existing customers
    • Casino and live casino offerings for when you want a change from sports betting
    • Plenty of in-play betting opportunities
    cons icon Cons:
    • No 24/7 customer support
  • Bet Storm is one of my favourite sites in terms of design — I really like the colour scheme and the background football pitch image which I think makes it stand out from much of the competition. The available sports markets are listed down the left hand side as icons, meaning there’s not too much wording to confuse the main page of the site. There’s a 100% up to £100 plus 20 free spins welcome bonus, but be mindful that the free spins can only be used on Book of Dead and disappointingly there’s an eye-watering 50x wagering requirement attached to the matched deposit. Alternatively for sports betting fans, you can pick up a £10 free bet when you bet £10 of your own cash. Outside of Paysafecard, there’s a great amount of payment options available including Trustly, Neteller, AstroPay and ecoPayz.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Easy to navigate site layout
    • Casino games and live casino available
    • Great range of promotional offers including tournaments between customers
    cons icon Cons:
    • Huge wagering requirements - 50x - on welcome offer
  • What makes Grosvenor a great Paysafecard betting site is that first-time depositors using this payment method will be eligible to claim the welcome bonus. This welcome offer doesn’t target the sportsbook, but it does give you £30 of bonus credit in the casino when depositing your first £20 on site.

Paysafecard deposits start at a minimum of £5 which is something I always like to see, but you won’t be able to withdraw your funds via this method, even if you have a My Paysafecard account. For withdrawals punters have a choice of four other banking options: Visa and Mastercard debit cards, PayPal and Apple Pay. Using PayPal and Apple Pay as a withdrawal method will see you receive requests within 15 minutes, making Grosvenor one of the fastest withdrawal sportsbooks on the market.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Paysafecard deposits unlock the welcome bonus
    • £5 minimum Paysafecard deposit
    • Withdrawals within 15 minutes
    cons icon Cons:
    • No Paysafecard withdrawals
  • Vegas Mobile Casino is undoubtedly one of the best Paysafecard bookmakers for two reasons: first, Paysafecard users can access withdrawals through their My Paysafecard accounts; and two, Paysafecard deposits are eligible to collect the welcome offer — a £30 free bet when you sign up and wager £20 of your own with the promo code VMC30. This is the only sports betting site I’ve seen that offers both of these perks.

For Paysafecard deposits, the minimum deposit amount is £10, with a maximum of £700. Vegas Mobile Casino has a great range of other payment methods too, including Visa and Mastercard debit cards, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Payz, Neosurf, Apple Pay and PayviaPhone.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Paysafecard withdrawals available
    • Unlock the welcome bonus with a Paysafecard deposit
    • Deposit up to £700 with Paysafecard funds
    • Great range of other payment methods
    cons icon Cons:
    • £10 minimum Paysafecard deposit
  • 32Red is another betting site that accepts Paysafecard, but you won’t be able to withdraw using this method here — the bookmaker explains that Paysafecard users will need to withdraw to a debit card instead. The other payment methods at your disposal are PayPal and bank transfer.

There’s currently no dedicated welcome offer for 32Red’s sportsbook, but you can claim a 150% matched deposit casino bonus up to £150, which comes with 25 free spins on Lara Croft. Unfortunately, Paysafecard deposits won’t qualify for the bonus. If you’d like to make a Paysafecard deposit into your betting account, there’s a minimum limit of £10 and a maximum of £450.

    pros icon Pros:
    • Daily horse racing price boosts
    • Livestream horse racing, football, tennis and basketball action
    cons icon Cons:
    • Paysafecard withdrawals not available
    • Paysafecard can’t be used to unlock the welcome bonus
Our Ranking Criteria

How We Review Paysafecard Betting Sites

The best Paysafecard betting sites satisfy a range of criteria before receiving a recommendation from us here at Compare.bet. Below are some of the key areas we look at when reviewing Paysafecard bookmakers.

Licensing and Security

No matter which aspect of the online gambling experience we’re reviewing, every single site we recommend must have a valid licence to operate in the UK. This is how all of our site reviews start. Gambling licences uphold betting sites to standards of fair play and data protection, so you should never place a bet at an unlicensed site.

Supports Paysafecard Transactions

After licensing checks, the first step is obviously to verify that the betting site does in fact accept Paysafecard transactions. We look at the details here too, such as deposit and withdrawal limits, if permitted. The nature of this payment method means withdrawals aren’t widely available, so we can excuse betting sites that aren’t able to offer these.

Variety of Other Payment Options

Since Paysafecard withdrawals aren’t common even at betting sites that accept Paysafecard, our reviews look closely at the site’s other accepted payment methods. We want to see the possibility of fast withdrawals facilitated by the inclusion of a range of e-wallets, bank transfer services, and services like Google and Apple Pay.

Mobile Capabilities

Although Paysafecard vouchers can be bought physically at a number of retailers, the prepaid card also has great mobile capabilities via My Paysafecard. You can review and manage your spending through the Paysafecard app, which works well in conjunction with any sports betting app. Mobile capabilities are always a key feature of our reviews, but it takes on greater importance when we’re reviewing payment solutions.

Promotions and Bonuses

Full marks go to those sites that make Paysafecard deposits eligible to pick up welcome bonuses and other promotions. Since many Paysafecard betting sites don’t offer withdrawals with this method, we can forgive the exclusion of Paysafecard for bonuses, provided the offer itself is of high-quality. No matter which angle our review is taking, we want to see added value to customers here.

Customer Service

We always want to see timely, helpful and friendly customer service, no matter which part of the betting experience we’re reviewing. The gold standard here is 24/7 live chat support, but a thorough FAQs page, email and phone support, and the use of social media channels goes a long way.

How to Choose a Paysafecard Betting Site

Blue Man Checklist STEP 1
Read Our Reviews
Take a look through our detailed Paysafecard betting site reviews. Within these, you will find detailed information on everything you need to know in order to select the best one for you. Our reviews will only ever include sites that are licensed by the UKGC and will cover areas of focus like the sports markets available, promotions and any unique feature available.
Green Female Checklist STEP 2
Check the Betting Options
It’s important to verify that the sports markets you’re interested in are available. If you have a particular niche interest then it’s worth reading through the list of sports to make sure it’s there. You’re less likely to need to check on this if your favourite sport to bet on is football, but you may want to double check that sports like lacrosse, handball and squash are available.
Yellow Checklist Bonus STEP 3
Compare Bonuses and Features
Once you’ve narrowed down your search, it’s worth ensuring the features and bonus offers align with what you’re hoping for. It’s important to check out existing customer promotions because once you’re signed up and the welcome offer has been used, these will be available to you. Similarly, if you like a particular feature such as bet builders or live streaming, be sure to have a look before signing up.
Red Man Playing Games STEP 4
Sign Up
Once you’ve gone through these checks and you’re sure of the one you want - fill in your details, select the welcome bonus, make a deposit and place that first bet at your preferred Paysafecard betting site!
Deposit & Withdraw

Depositing and Withdrawing at Paysafecard Betting Sites

Wondering how to make payments to and from your online betting account? Read on for a step-by-step deposit guide, and alternatives to Paysafecard for withdrawing funds.

How to Deposit with a Paysafecard Voucher

So you’ve chosen your preferred Paysafecard betting site – how do you make a deposit?

Follow these simple steps.

  1. Select ‘deposit’ on the betting site cashier page.
  2. You will see a list of payment options available to you – simply click on the Paysafecard logo.
  3. Next you need to input the amount you’d like to deposit.
  4. You’ll be asked to tap in the 16-digit pin found on the back of your Paysafecard voucher and then hit ‘pay’.
  5. For those with a Paysafecard account, you can log in and your deposit amount will be deducted from your balance.

Withdrawal Options at Paysafecard Bookmakers

Very few Paysafe betting sites will let you withdraw using the service. For those that do, you’ll need a myPaysafe account — you can set this up via the Paysafecard website. Otherwise, it’s wise to have another option up your sleeve for when you want to withdraw funds.

The service you choose will depend on your needs and preferences. Here are a few to consider:

  • Debit cards are the most ubiquitous payment method. Their ease of use and familiarity are the main selling points, but sharing your card number mitigates some of the security benefits of Paysafecard. Payouts usually take a few days too.
  • e-Wallets like PayPal, Skrill, and Neteller are great options for managing your betting budget. They’re highly secure and offer fast or even instant withdrawals.
  • Trustly is a payments intermediary that runs on Open Banking. Once you connect to the service, you can make instant payments to and from the bookmaker.
  • Bank transfers are a good fallback in a pinch, but are typically the slowest withdrawal method.
Claiming Bonuses

Claiming Bonuses with Paysafecard

When you claim a bonus, it’s important to watch out for excluded deposit methods. Paysafecard payments often find themselves on this list. Why? Ultimately it’s so the bookie can protect itself against bonus abuse — it’s harder to complete KYC requirements if the customer uses Paysafecard to deposit as the service is completely anonymous.

That said, all is not lost. You can always use an eligible payment method such as a debit card to claim your offer, and a few sites do indeed permit Paysafecard for bonuses. So, what’s up for grabs?

  • Free bets are the most common Paysafecard bonus available, often taking a Bet and Get form. They do exactly what they say on the tin — you can place a bet using the token in lieu of your own cash, with any profit yours to keep.
  • Matched deposits give customers bonus credit proportionate to their first deposit with the bookie. For example, a 100% bonus will see you double your balance up to the offer limit. Keep in mind this bonus credit is separate to your real money balance.
  • Money back bets refund your stake as free betting credit if your qualifying bet loses. They’re slightly less valuable than a standard free bet as you’ll only receive the bonus if your wager is unsuccessful.
Banking

Banking Withdrawal Options

As we’ve explained elsewhere on this page, Paysafecard is a deposit-only payment method at the majority of betting sites. This means you’ll likely need to use another payment option if you want to get your hand on any payouts. Here are some of the most popular.

payment card icon

Debit Cards

Visa, Mastercard or Maestro debit card deposits are accepted at every UK online sportsbook and will always qualify users to welcome bonuses and other promotions. Couple this with the familiarity of debit cards in our everyday lives and it’s easy to see why this banking option is the most popular. The only negative is that debit card withdrawals can be slow, sometimes taking up to five working days to land. That is unless you make use of the Visa Direct service, which can return withdrawals within 30 minutes.

Visa Betting Sites
Paypal casino logo

e-Wallets

PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, and Payz are just some of the e-wallet services commonly found at UK betting sites. e-Wallets are more or less an inversion of debit cards: bonus eligibility is pretty uncommon, but withdrawals with these options are among the fastest, and can be completed in an instant. Availability is very good for e-wallets — we expect to see at least one on offer at every Paysafecard betting site we review.

Best PayPal Betting Sites UK
Trustly Logo

Trustly

If you’d like to avoid sharing your bank details with your betting site, you can opt for a payment service like Trustly. Running on the Open Banking network, Trustly is a payment portal that directly links your bank account with the bookmaker’s, without exchanging any financial data. It’s a service that the majority of banks subscribe to, but if yours doesn’t, Trustly won’t be available to you. Payments are processed at high speed on both ends, but check your betting site’s terms and conditions for bonus eligibility.

Trustly Betting Sites
Astropay Logo

AstroPay

If you like the inherent money management tools of Paysafecard but lament the lack of withdrawal support, AstroPay might be the ideal payment method for you. It rolls in the benefits of prepaid cards and e-wallets into one payment solution, allowing users to send money and make payments through their online account. The key difference between AstroPay and other e-wallets is that you’ll need to create a virtual debit card and load it with funds every time you want to make a transaction, which aligns this method closely with prepaid services like Paysafecard.

Pros & Cons

About Paysafecard

About Paysafecard

Paysafecard was founded in Austria in 2000 by four business partners, including the original CEO, Armin Sageder. In 2013, Skrill acquired Paysafecard.com and a year later they also took on Paysafecard competitor, Ukash, and rebranded the company as Paysafe Group — the name we’re familiar with today. The current CEO of Paysafe Group is Bruce Lowthers, who joined the team in May 2022. Originally headquartered in Vienna, their offices are now spread globally in locations such as Dublin, London, Vienna, Texas, California and Montreal. Currently, the Skrill and Neteller e-wallets sit under the Paysafe Group umbrella of leading payment options alongside Paysafecard – the two e-wallets are virtually identical in what they offer, varying only in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
